6mp or 10mp slr which?

Question

I am going to buy a slr but i am worried if i go for a 6mp camera i will regret it later should i?

I nam planning to go for a pentax k100d or a nikon d40

Or should i go for a olympus e-410?

Please could i have some advice??

I think you should go to a good camera store and try out some of these cameras!   Hold them in your hands and see how easy it is to reach the controls.  Every camera is different and what is right for one person, might not be right for you.  

Don't forget to check out the Canon Rebel XTi.  It's 10mp and has been a very popular camera.

10mp is overkill.  The e410 is the best of the above - better a top range Olympus than a bottom range Nikon.

Whichever you choose remember the more megapixels the better the resolution and the larger the pictures without loss of definition can be achieved.

Between those two, I will take the Nikon anyday. In fact, I recently opted for the D40 over the Pentax cameras, and I am extremely happy with the camera. This is a personal choice. For me, the deciding factors were:

- Nikon's lenses

- A significantly easier to use menu system

- Support (and some surprising comments) from the photo processing s/w makers

Regarding pixel count, the Kenrockwell article referred above says it all.

6mp is plenty unless you're doing really *extensive* cropping... Keep in mind that the top cameras from a few years ago were 6mp.

Nikon's lens system is far better than Olympus and the D40 received some of the best reviews of any DSLR  ever, when it was introduced.  So I'd take the D40 over the e-410 in a heartbeat.  Better the entry-level Nikon than the higher-end Olympus.

I recommend you to buy nikon d40 because cheap price, good product, many users said good quality.
