6(n-4)=3n, anyone know how to solve this?

I need the steps to it, I don't just want the answer I want to understand it

  1. Expand... rearrange.... simplify

    6n-6x4 = 3n

    (rearrange)

    6n-3n = 6x4

    (simplify)

    3n = 24

    etc if you need anything in more detail I'd be happy to help


  2. 1.) Simplify the left side.

    2.) Combine like terms.

    3.) Move all variables to one side of the equation and all constants to the other.

    4.) Simplify both sides of the equation.

    Hopefully that helps you enough without me actually giving you the answer.

  3. 6(n-4)=3n 1. start with equation

    6n-24=3n 2. use the distributive property and multiply 6 x n and 6 x 4

    3n=-24    3. take 3n and subtract by 6n

    n=-8        4. divide -24 by 3
