Question:

6th Grade Preparation?

I have a friend who is entering 6th grade this month, and she is really scared about going to math class. School now is very different from how it used to be, and I'm wondering what middle school in Central Texas is like. She is signed up for all Pre-Ap classes and is a straight "A" student. Is it going to be hard? How much work will she have to complete?

My main question though is if anyone has any tips on math and what to expect. What does she need to know before she enters middle school? I am in Central Texas, so please answer if you live near that area. I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

  1. I just got out the 6th grade. The math is not that hard..

Tip: In the second semester of school your friend's math class average will start as a 0, so tell her to be careful on how she does on that first assignment of that semester. Whatever she gets on that first assignment is going to become her current grade!

Your friend will have more math work to complete, but it wont hurt. She will probably have about 1-2 hours of math homework a day.

Tell her that Middle School is overrated and it's not that big of a deal. I was very nervous the summer before I entered the 6th grade, but it turned out fine.

  2. 6th grade math and math in general are completely overrated. Your friend seemed to have made it through 5th grade so she must be somewhat prepared for 6th grade. Personally I found sixth grade in general rather boring and easy.

  3. I was a Grade A student entering the 6th grade then came my first day of math, my whole life has been downhill since then. I couldn't take the pressure and now i am into cocaine and weed and acid. I have 3 kids and i'm only 17 all because of the 6th grade math! Good luck i hope things work out for you
