6th ODI: Jonathan Trott century strengthens England position
Jonathan Trott racked up his third century which put England in a commanding position against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the sixth One-day International of the seven-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
In the process, Trott anchored England to a position of strength at 246 for the loss of 3 wickets in 41 overs.
Trott has played a measured innings with composure and calmness. His approach was positive from the start and he was looking set for a big innings in the game. He relied mainly on ones and twos and continuously rotated the strike.
Trott hit his first boundary off the 39th delivery, but still managed to keep his strike-rate over 100. His century came off just 99 balls, which included eight boundaries as well.
Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott put up an unbeaten 57-run stand off just 42 balls for the fourth wicket. The pair has played aggressively in order to take their team to a mammoth score. The stage is set for the lower order players such as Paul Collingwood and
Eoin Morgan to launch their assault.
Bell has playing exceedingly well in his innings, scoring 29 off only 21 deliveries and is looking to take the game away from the opposition.
Australian bowlers have struggled to make an impression with the white Kookaburra and are giving away runs at over 6 an over.
Nevertheless, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee and Steven Smith all have chipped in with a wicket apiece. Smith has been the pick of the bowlers, picking up 1 for 40 in his seven overs.
Earlier, England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat first on flat track. His batsmen responded in a positive manner as most of them contributed well. Strauss himself set the tone by smashing a superb half-century.
Currently, England is looking all set to amass a huge total. On the other hand, the Australian bowlers have to bowl well in the death overs in order to restrict the visitors.
