It's really hard..

Soo, I was wondering if you guys could help me?

For example what I need is:

"Let N = # Apples

2n + 14 oranges

2n + 14 = 40

2n + 14 - 14 = 40

2n = 26

2n divided by 2 = n / 26 divided by 2 = 13

27 ORANGES"

Like that ^. lol

  1. l+w=32

    3l=w

    24+8=32

    length=24

    width=8

  2. Write what you know:

    Variables:

    L = length

    W = width

    Perimeter formula: 2L + 2W  = P

    Given: The perimeter of a rectangular lawn is 32 yd.

    Means: 2L + 2W = 32

    Given: If the length is 3 times the width

    Means: L = 3W

    You have two equations.

    2L + 2W = 32

    L = 3W

    Replace L with 3W in the first equation.

    2L + 2W = 32

    2(3W) + 2W = 32

    6W + 2W = 32

    8W = 32

    W = 32/8 = 4

    Plug this into the second equation to solve for W.

    L = 3W

    L = 3(4) = 12

    ANSWER: The length is 12 yards; the width is 4 yards.
