how do you do this?

  1. Combine like terms

       (5y + 3y) + 1 = -15

        8y + 1 = -15

    subtract 1

         8y = -16

    divide by 8

         y = -2

      


  2. first of all, you need to combine all y's, so it would become 8y+1=-15.

    Then, you need to subtract 1 from -15, so it'll be 8y=-16.
