If ever there was a time for NRL fans to get out and support the game it was last night, Bulldogs fans should have been there en masse but as per usual they all had something better to do, when will Sydney fans learn that the more money they put into the clubs the more bouyant the comp will be, the NRL can't raise the salary cap and try to keep the stars here if the fans don't get off there bums and actually support there teams, John Ribot made very interesting reading the the paper this morning, the game is in crisis and nobody is doing anything about it!!!

  1. I'll agree that 7800 is historically a low turn out for them but lest not forget it was Monday night football and it was d**n cold.

The cold alone meant a majority of families were out of the question to attend, Monday night football is never a success, many dant finish work in time to go home, change and get to a game.

Actually Monday Night Football is one aspect I'd love to cram back down the sports administrators throats. To stand there and be critical of fans attending (or lack of) when your happy to take the money generated by those same fans Foxtel subsciptions or by sitting thru the countless ads on Channel 9 is I think one of the worst aspects of a number of clubs CEO's.

Have a look at the actual numbers of voting members of each club if you'd like to see just how disinterested people are becoming in the clubs. How many of the 23,000 at the Knights game are paying members of the Leagues Club?

I think on a night like last night there are a lot of other games played on weekends on far more enjoyable afternoons that should have caused more concern the the 7800 last night, they didnt seem concerned then, whay should we expect them to now?

  2. You've got to be kidding?

The thing all fans of all clubs should do is boycott every game till the end of the season as a protest to paying huge amounts of money to a few blokes who know how to throw a ball around. The LAST thing we need to do is buoy up the coffers of the clubs so they can keep paying outrageous amounts to these guys.

I say reduce the salary cap to $75,000 per player and even that is way too much in my opinion.

Make these blokes realise that they are just individuals that make up the clubs as a whole, make them earn their keep. If they don't want to play the game then go make their multi-million dollar careers somewhere else.

I would rather watch the under 13's who play because they love the game than pay to watch fully grown adults who can't hold their beer in public, and generally make pigs of themselves because their huge salaries allow them to do so.
