7.1 Surrond only coming out of 5.1????

Question

I just bought an Onkyo SR800 7.1 surrond sound...

I have it hooked up with optical audio...

it currently plays in 5.1 and i was wondering if there was anyway to make it play out of all 7 speakers...

I know that it won't be different sounds out of the back to, but i just want some sound...

The only way to get it to play out of all the speakers is to play media that supports 7.1.

What is your source?

Could be that it only plays 5.1 and not 7.1 surround sound.

In order for your system to play in 7.1 channels , the source has to be able to play in that mode.

You might also check your receiver or amp. In the audio set up it must be told that there are 7 speakers playing and not 5.

Press the setup button and select the "advanced menu".

Select "3. Audio Adjust"

In the audio adjust menu, select "2. surround speakers"

Now choose "Surr L/R+Back".
