Today she has had 13 oz of formula and 2 stage 2 Gerber's tubs of fruit. I am worried she is not getting enough to eat. She went to the Doctor yesterday for running a 101.1 temp. What can I do to get more fluids in her? Her doctor wants me to keep her hydrated.

  1. Maybe forget the solid foods for right now and concentrate on formula.  Also, you didn't mention if you have given her any baby motrin.  This always helps and might be good to give about an hour before bottle time.  Otherwise, I would just stick with formula and make sure you are giving her the right dose of Motrin.  Good luck.

  2. if she is sick i really wouldnt try to give a lot of milk. Give her juice  and sugar water that would be the best thing for right now. if you are that concerned call her dr and ask them they will give you advice. i did that with my daughter and she is just fine and felt better in a couple of days.

  3. Babies can run fevers while teething, and also it can hurt to suck on a bottle while she is teething.  Try given her fluids in a regular cup.  Hold the cup for her and let her drink out of it.  My daughter loves to do this, and it feels good on her sore gums to bite down on the rim of the cup while drinking.

  4. I am going through the same thing.  My 6 month old son cut his first tooth 4 days ago and his second tooth today.  I have notice for the last week though that he is not drinking as much as he usually does.  In fact, he has only been drinking about 4 to 6 oz of his bottles, when he usually drinks all 8.  He is only drinking between 20 and 30 oz. a day.  When he usually drinks 40.  He also drinks about 4 oz of juice/water mix a day. I cut him from 2 jars of second foods a day to 2 jars of 1st foods so he would drink more formula but it doesn't seem to be working.

Fevers are common with teething although my son has not had one yet, my daughter got them when she was teething. Try some infant's tylenol or infants motrin.  Also, try giving her a cool rag or cool teether to chew on.  When my daughter was teething she LOVED to chew on frozen waffles.

Also, try giving her some watered down juice she may take that a little better and it'll keep her hydrated.

Best of luck...teething is one of the hardest things to go through as a parent of an infant.
