I have a guy thats wanting to give me a great deal on two tires. The person that im talking to sells used tires that are in great condition. He says that there are 7-8/32 tread left and Im not sure if thats good or bad. Can someone tell me where those stands. Also, How long would those tires last at the tread level.

  1. A tire that starts with 10/32" of original tread depth has 12.5% wear for every 1/32" that is worn away, and a tire that starts with 12/32" " of original tread depth, has 10% wear for every 1/32" that is worn away, etc.

  2. Good tires are removed from vehicles all the time. Dealerships remove good used tires in order to put cheap crappy new tires on to give you feeling of a better car.  I rarely buy new tires except for my wife's car and I have found that used tire dealers or Craiglister's are often better than the new tire dealers with all the charges.
