7-day trip to Amsterdam with girlfriend. help?

How much US money should I bring for: a roundtrip for both of us, hotels, food, nightclubs, coffeshops??? were thinking of going to the coffee shops once a day then to the nightclubs once every other night. and of course food, hotel, and the roundtrip ticket for us.

would $5000 be enough for my girlfriend and I?

It would depend where you're flying from, how and when you're flying; prices vary at different times of the year.  Plus, what kind of hotel you're staying at--major chain, guest house--what kind of restaurants you like to eat in, etc. etc.  

Currently RT from the west coast of the US to Amsterdam is running about $1200, so that would be half your money right there.

5000 US$ is plenty for a seven day trip... Assuming you don't want first class airplane tickets... A reasonably good hotel will cost you about $250 per night, coffeeshops about $40, food about $60 and nightclubs about $100 so that's $450 a day/night. 7x$450 is $3150 which leaves you $1850 for your planetickets. You could easily do it all for (a lot) less although I'm not that sure about plane tickets... I think you should be able to fly roundtrip with two people for less than $1850 but you'll probably have to shop around... Go for a big chain hotel like Hilton, Holiday Inn, Golden Tulip or Accor... The small privately run hotels in Amsterdam are not all very good... AND DO NOT WALK AROUND WITH $5000 CASH!!!! Use your plastic!!!!
