Hi,

Im from india and planning to visit switzerland in the first week march. Please let me some important palces to visit and also some places to stay, and also how may days to stay in the same place so that i will have accesibility to major tourist spots.

Please note I will be arriving at zurich on day 1.

After seeing a lot of itenaries on the net. I found that most of the itenaries suggests 2 days in interlaken and 2 days in luzern and 1 day in zurich

My question here is, -- is 2 days stay required in interlaken ? then what are the spots i can visit on the same day so that i can come back to the hotel at interlaken ?

And the same for luzern....

Please, please somebody throw some light on this ....

Also Im planning to take the 8 day swiss saver pass, since i will be travelling with my wife.

Actually my schedule is very flexible, if you suggest somemore important palcess to visit, i can strech my schedule to 10 days.

Thanks

Prasanna

  2. You can't go to Switzerland without visiting the capital, Bern.  There is a lot to do.  If you are in decent shape, you can have a really great day of walking, which includes a lot of diverse sites.  In one day you could start downtown, which has a beautiful state house and head through the old town to the bear pits.  Bern is named after the German word for bear.  From there you can walk along the Aare, which runs along Bern on three sides, to the Animal Park.  From there you can cross a bridge and keep walking to the Eicholz park, which has a small but nice cafè.  Then you can walk up the hill, to the main street, which stands right before the best look out in the city, the Gurten.  You can take a train to the top, and see the entire city, especially during the winter and early spring before the foliage is in full effect.

Zürich is great, but it is a very different feeling than Bern, more of a big city atmosphere.  Luzern is also very nice, but if you have to choose, see Bern.  Geneva is alright, but very anglicized and industrialized in the main downtown area.  Unless you are a real outdoors enthusiast, and you want to have a very physical vacation, you don't need more than a day in Interlaken.  You should also check out the Italian portions of Switzerland.  A truly cool experience is JungFrau.  A bit on the expensive side, (everything else I have mentioned is free), but it is the highest accessible peak in all of Europe, and truly breathtaking.  There is snow year round up top, ice sculpture, a rip cord and lots of fun along the three trains you need to get to the top!

Well, I think that is everything!
