7 days to Golf Ryder Cup, a fatigued Rory McIlory makes headlines
The all-famous Ryder Cup is only eight days away, and all those who are about to appear in this cool golfing event are busy getting into form. Rory McIlory, on the other hand, is fatigued to the limit.
On Tuesday, he was seen with his manager at the driving range. McIlory and Chubby Chandler weren’t talking about the upcoming Ryder Cup; it was his schedule of 6 out of 7 weeks. The agenda McIlory followed had left him in a mental thwack, resulting in his departure from America a week ago and playing six out of seven weeks.
Those who favour McIlory have been secretly thanking God that he didn’t make it to the Tour Championship. According to McIlory, this is a gift covered up with a twinge of regret.
Considering if that happened, the brain-dead 21-year-old and his life-long destiny wouldn’t seem to go too well together. McIlory aims at playing his opening shot with his friend Graeme McDowell at the European event, and it wouldn’t be possible provided he doesn’t have a tired mind.
What most critics suggest is cutting the one and twenty some free space to breath. This includes two things; one is cutting down on the hectic schedule for the year ahead and second is telling the media to follow a relaxed approach. The media has been swarming with headlines about McIlory, displaying a rather negative impression on many golf followers.
McIlory made the headlines who allegedly stated that he would rather win an event which isn’t Ryder in nature, basically Majors.
According to McIlory, his main focus at the start of the year would be the Masters but as the dates approach the event at Celtic Manor, he is ready to play to the best of his abilities in the Ryder Cup. He says that events like these have intense pressure in them. However, he can be called a real golfer, once he enjoys his first-time game in an environment such as this.
Had Rory made the headlines 18 months back, it probably would have been acceptable. The 21-year-old had called the Ryder Cup an exhibition back then and is now sorry. He accepts that it was a wrong thing to say and marks the all-famous event as a spectacle, which he will be performing in after his little break.
His main aim after his break would be to reach his top form. The Englishman said that he will try to enter the competition with sharpness and is confident in that aspect because of his experience.
Why McIlory favoured winning a major is because there is a difference in performing with the team and individually. McIlory says that in Masters it’s entirely up to you whether you stand or fall. He says that in teams the whole pressure isn’t on you; even if you play rubbish the team can win. McIlory says he prefers playing in the former event.
For those who need a golfing style that matches McIlory’s, all they need is a bit of flair, some imagination and touch of adventure. Along with that, the need for a sane behaviour exists which McIlory possess. Even if the summer was tiring, his best performances were brought up in the same season, which stands as The Open and The US PGA.
According to Rory, at the end of the long run he wants to be there in America. He says that for the coming year 2011, this is something that needs to be looked into by him and Chubby. He has a special liking towards events that are pretty big and hopes to nurture good luck for the Ryder Cup on the October 1st.
