  1. Don't forget to try the tortuga rum cakes there. They are to die for. Yummo!

  2. but why would you want to go to the beach in Grand Cayman when you can go swimming with the stingrays!  What an amazing...and intense experience!!!  Definitely something everyone should do in their lifetime!

  3. the cayman islands are known for the seven mile beach so you shouldnt have much trouble finding it

if you are to take a taxi they are probably going to take you to an area where you ahve to pay and its most likely going to be crowed. but if you ask to go to the area near the govener's house its free and not many people are there because not many people know of it.  my aunt lives there and thats where she took us when we were in the cayman islands for the day and i've also been there many times before. the water is amzing and so clear and you dont have to worry about crazy tides because the reef blocks it off and minimal amounts of seaweed.

  4. I was just in Georgetown, Grand Cayman this past December, so here's some up to date information.

When your ship gets to Grand Cayman you will have to board a free small tender boat to get to the pier.  That boat will be provided by the cruise line or your ship and maybe both.  That's because there is no pier that cruise ships can tie up on at that port.

Once you get off of the tender boat just walk through the gate and you will see some buildings with shops and all over the plaza will be people offering tours and taxis to the beaches.  All you have to do is just walk up to one and say I want to go to the 7-Mile beach.  They will usher you to mini-vans in the parking lot next to the dock.  When you come back they drop you right there.

There are several places that you can go on 7-mile beach and the fare will be either $4.00 per person each way for some or $5.00 per person each way for the other.  You need to take cash (US dollars are fine) with you; you pay going and then pay again coming back.  The taxi's/mini-buses do not wait for you at the beach but there are plenty of them there to take you back to the town or pier when you are ready to go.

I have been to two of the beach stops and they are not that much different so just go to a $4.00 stop and you can if you want walk anywhere up and down the beach that you want.  There are rest rooms, places to get snacks, places to rent chairs and umbrellas, places to rent rafts, jet ski, and to go para-sailing.

  5. When you are at the dock area facing Georgetown....it is the long beach to the left...not far at all.  Anyone and everyone there will be able to help you out.  It is also very easy to get a bus/taxi...although the buses tend to be faster (and cheaper) because they try to fill the "taxi vans" before leaving.

    Good luck!
