  1. I agree with the earlier post and just wanted to add that the newfie hair insulates the dog against cold AND hot!  It may seem unlikely but the dog is better off not ever being shaved. If you shave your pet, the hair will never grow back in the same, there could be high and low spots maybe even balding in some areas.  The shedding will become 100% worse.  I recommend the furminator treatment, it is a de-shedding treatment that needs to be preformed at least once every 2 months. It is a service that is preformed with the bath and brush. It will only remove the undercoat and is filled with omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, great for the skin.  You should look for an experienced groomer that deals with large hairy breads.  Good luck to you!
