Question:

7 month old in the tub?

My little guy has become horrible to give a bath to. He bounces off the walls in his baby bathtub (literally) and has outgrown baths in the sink. This makes it next to impossible for me to rinse him off after we're done with the washing. I don't mind him enjoying his bath, but we have to get the soap off after! Any helpful suggestions?

  1. My daughter was frightful of the big bathtub as well. I bought this cool bathtub seat for her to sit in- it has toys hooked right to it. I also gave her lots of bath toys- her favorite is actually those pool sticks (yea, meant to be throw in the pool and retrieved) that they sell at Walmart for like $3 a pack of 12. Check out the seat on this website:

  2. Put just an inch or two in the regular tub and get in with him.  (Wearing a swimsuit if you desire).  Allow him to lie on his back and splash and laugh.  This is a great way to burn off some extra energy.  Make sure you use a "No Tears" shampoo for them.  Keep extra towels on hand and don't use so much soap that they become too slippery.  Don't be in such a hurry.  This is great bonding time.  They will sleep much better.

  3. Tub and hand-held sprayer.

  4. Try the big bath. I have used it for my daughter since she was about 4 months. Get a non-slip pad to go under him so he doesn't slip. I use a tub to pour water over her to rinse. I count 123 before I do her head/face and she has learnt to close her eyes when I count.

  5. bath him in the actual bathtub.  You can buy thoughts rings that suction cups the the bottom of the tub.  He will have a blast.  But never leave him alone thinking it is safe.

  6. 2 words- bath toys.  That will keep him busy while you wash and rinse.

  7. If you son isn't sitting yet or isn't sitting well enough to take a bath in the big tub then you might want to try the bath seat.  I got it with my last 2 kids and it was great.  I could fill the water high enough that they could play with their toys but they were confined so I could wash and rinse them.  It was also helpful because I often  bathed my two little ones together and the older of the two wasn't dunking the baby.

  8. my babe is doing the same thing. he takes a bath in the big bath tub now and he is constantly trying to crawl all over and stand up in the tub.  he doesn't seem to mind when he gets water in his face so I keep a cup in the tub and just rinse him with it as he does his thing and if he gets some water on his face i wipe it with the wash cloth.  if you are comfortable maybe try giving him a bath in the big tub

  9. Get a bath chair. It sunctions onto the bottom of the tub. He will be able to play with the water in front of him (or toys) and it will be much more manageable because he is sitting in a chair. He wont slip and slide everywhere.

  10. I believe there are some devices you can use in the adult bathtub to make him secure while you bathe him there.  Of course, this means you might have to kneel by the tub, but it is a possible solution.

  11. Give him a "big boy" bath (in just a tub). Maybe some toys like rubber ducks and foam letters...they have a whole bunch of toys. Then once you drain the tub just get a cup or whatever you use to rinse him off and fill it up and wash off all the soap. i really like that idea of the hose shower head though...

  12. everything within patience, get a cup and 'throw' the water on him to get the soap off.

  13. Give him a bath in the actual tub.. My son LOVES his baths!!! he has now learned that first we put him in the tub.. soap him up rinse him down and the its playtime for him. He would splash for HOURS if we let him. i usually let him splash around for about 20 mins after bath time. Oh and By the way!!! i either sit outside of the tub and hold his shoulders.. OR sit in the tub with him. Sitting in the tub with him is MUCH more fun :) Good luck!!! Im sure your son will love this. I know mine does :)... Happy bath time!! lol

  14. How about a flexible showerhead?  Then, when he's giving you some trouble, you can just use that to get off the soap.
