I just got a kitten last Monday , and Tuesday took it to the vet to be treated for a resoitory infection. They gave me clavamox and some eye drops. By Thursday she seemed and besides a tad bit of raspy breathing, she didnt seem sick at all! She was running all over playing with everything, and seemed fine. Im supposed to give her the meds for tens days even if she is better, so I was still giving them twice a day.

Anyway to the point....

Last night I noticed her heart was beating pretty fast and she was breathing faster. Her breathing almost seemed like a clicking sound. She still is acting perfectly fine. In fact right now she is running around playing.

Of course its a Sunday or she would be at the vet right. Any ideas of what this is? I know it could be allergic reaction to her meds? Im scarred..Please help!

  1. hopefully you have contacted the vet by now

  2. It just sounds like she is a little out of breath . I have an 8 week old kitten and when she is playing and running around she just flackes out and she breaths fast , i would not worry about this . I would seek medical advice if this happens when say she is just sleeping ! but if its just when she has played i would say she is fine xx

  3. I would have said a hairball... But in her sleep.... Hm.... What had she eaten that day? And is she a inside cat or outside?

  4. Take her to the vet and see if it is probley just an allergic reaction. But I whould take her to the vet just in case.

  5. Last Thursday I took my 5 week old kitten to the vet as well. They put her on Clavamox and Terramycin. Since Thursday evening she has been breathing much faster but like you said she plays and looks healthy as can be. Sounds like it must be the clavamox doing it. Hope this makes you feel better I know it did for me.
