My 6 year old daughter's (turning 7) bithday is August 15th, and I need to start thinking about where to have the party, what food to get, what games to buy, and what presents to buy her. I was thinking about a pool party in our backyard (we have an in ground pool). And having it be under-water themed. Maybe a fish themed cake, some sort of pinata (spelling?), but I just don't know... And I also need ideas for gifts. I can't think of anything. She is really into Hannah Montana, and since having my 13 year old stepdaughter living with us, she has started liking the Jonas Brothers. So I might try to get some concert tickets. So....I need ideas! Help!! Thanks =)

  1. That's a fun theme ~ I'd definitely stick with it.   Go to store and gets lots of floats for the pool to go with  theme.  I'm sure  you've  seen those loofa circular sponges made of this netting material at a dollar store.  You can remove the string and they turn into really cool net like streamers.  I got a dozen and a half in teal and blue and strung them everywhere.  We found cute decorative sponges in starfish, crabs, and fish and we hung them up too.  we did a treasure chest filled with colored pearl necklaces and candy necklaces.  Decorate tables with red candy fish or mermaid stuff.  You can do a treasure hunt to go along with theme.   For extra gift idea, Webkinz just came out with a fish doll.    other ideas: have you seen those name bracelet with pearls http://www.savannahstreasures.com/

or some kind of dvd or video game.

  2. Under water is very cool, I did my cake with blue icing and shells all over it for my 14th. Oddly enough Target has a disney channel section with them oth so you could get her a hannah wig and the karokee CD (if you dont mind her singing all day). You can play underwater game sin the pool, like hold a hula hoop under water and ahve them sim though it without tocuhing the edges or jump from the side or diving board and try to hit it, throw dive stick and each ahve points, hold contests with cute prizes like dress up clip on earrings or other things. If you want anymore ideas feels free to email me. I love party lanning. Oh yeah and for food.....stick to hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, chips, you know things everyone likes, kids are really picky eaters.

  3. the party sounds great the underwater them is cool you can get like a mermaid cake or a finding nemo cake, i think that she might be to young for a concert but get her like their c.d or dolls, maybe even their poster you things by them because she might be to young to remember a concert, i would get like hambergers and hot dogs, chips, make it like a cook out type thing and maybe a bounce house or one of those blow up water slide things that you blow up if you know what m talking about but you also need pool toys!! and face painting is always cool? ?? ? just an idea??? and which ever cake you picked(nemo or ariel) you can put on that movie while they are eating!!

good luck and wish her a happy birthday for me!!!

  4. I think with everything else going on at the moment you should try to keep it simple. You will have a breakdown if you push yourself too hard! Give yourself a break and just have a quiet party with a few friends. Your daughter is only 7 and will be perfectly happy with that.
