I just got my son a haircut 2 day's ago and I thought I had the haircutting stuff put away good but evidently not my son evidently had gotten the sissors out while he was using the bathroom which included standing on the toilet seat and climbing up to the counter to grab them. (they were on a shelf in a bag) Didn't think he even knew what that was.

Anyways he did admit to doing it and he cut like 1/4 by 1/4 off by his ear "of his hair" I got onto him telling him 1..when he is in my bathroom he LEAVES my stuff alone 2. He could have gotten REALLY HURT 3. To bring me a toy cuz he lost a toy now 4. DO NOT CUT YOUR OWN HAIR!!

What should i do?

I moved them he dont know where they are "NOW"

  1. My son cut my daughters hair, my oldest cut his own hair, my sisters daughter shaved lines in her hair; there is n't much you can do but get creative with hats, and wiat for the hair to grow back. Blessings....

  2. What do you do now?  You just roll with it.  It's only hair, it will grow out, and in a month or so nobody will know about it.  He's young, and he's experimenting with the world around him.  Be happy that he feels free to do that.  Or did, at any rate...

  3. Every kid tries it!

    You did the right thing!

My son did that when he was 5 and used kid scissors to cut chunks of hair. I had to get him a buzz cut, which he hated.

That cured him of self trimming! LOL!

  4. This is a rite of passage for kids! Make sure you take pictures of his new haircut so you can embarrass him in front of his girlfriends when he's a teenager! :)

  5. I have three kids and at some point they have all cut their own hair.  The girls did it in school with the little blunt ended scissors and my son found his dads beard trimmer and shaved away.  Other than doing what you already did there isnt much else you can do, if the cut is awful then maybe buzz the rest of his hair and go on.

  6. There is not much you CAN do other than wait for it to grow out :-)

  7. Well at least he didn't do a horrible job cutting his hair. lol This is a common childhood thing. My sister in law's daughter cut a HUGE chunk out of her hair. It was cut so short she looked like a boy.

My son who was about 4 at the time told her that you don't play with scissors & said he didn't like her looking like a boy & it made him sad. lol

I think you handled it fine. Hopefully he got the point.

My kids know not to go and touch things in mommy & daddy's room. The same is for our bathroom. So I agree she should be punished for that and you said above he was.

Did you talk to him about trust? I as a mom don't like feeling I have to HIDE things from my kids. I should know that they know if they can touch it or not. Esp. a 7yr old.

  8. You've done everything you need to do.

My child decided to give herself bangs when she was five.

    Kids do these things.
