My husband goes out of town and my 7 year old son start's not wanting to sleep in his bed, he say's he wants to be with me. He is scared to be alone and everytime my husband has to go out of town for work he does this.

Sometimes i make him stay in bed sometimes i let him in my bed he has done this 3 times in my bed since he left a week ago but other then that he will sleep in his bed (for naps mostly) he will.

I'm just wondering if it's wrong to let him sleep in my bed while my husband is gone due to the fact that when he get's back that's not going to happen because my husband wont let him.

I only am because I am 8 months pregnant and to tired and can't pick him up to carry him back to his bed :)

HELP???

My 4 year old goes to sleep easily at night they both have a nap from 12-2

  1. Your 7 year old takes a scheduled nap?

It's common for kids to feel this way when a parent goes out of town.  If it's not bothering you him sleeping with you only during this time, then what's the harm? He'll probably grow out of it.  For about 6 months my 6 year old slept on the floor at the end of her bed between her closet and bed.  She felt safe there.  From what, I don't know.  She grew out of it.  Kids have strange sleep habits sometimes.

  2. Tell your son it's okay to sleep in his bed, and let him sleep with a teddy bear so it can comfort him.

  3. he sleeps in your bed when your husband is gone because you LET him.

your 7 year old still takes naps?

  4. If it doesn't bother you for your son to sleep with you, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.  He obviously understands that Daddy won't allow it when he is home.

In the meantime, try to find out exactly what he is scared of.  Is it 'being alone' or something else.

Reading story books to him that are written about other kids with the same problem might help.... bibliotherapy, I think it's called.

In the end, this is a personal decision that you will have to decide based on whether letting him climb in bed with you is making the problem better or worse.

    Good luck.

  5. Maybe he's being sweet and thinks you'll be lonely

  6. whats the big deal your son doesnt like it when your husband is gone he likes to feel safe.  it is fine.
