How do I train and teach this child who keeps losing her things frequently in school, losing her ID, pencils, paper, hankies, earrings, crayons, almost every day she comes home with incomplete things. Whenever i ask her, it's either she misplaced it and/or she shared it with her classmates, which is very annoying for a parent like me because I don't always have the finances, the time to go and buy/replace it but I have to provide her the for the next day, and she always does the same......

  1. You should just have the teacher just hold the stuff in school and then when she needs it the teacher can just give to her and then she gives it right back.

    PBJ

  2. Is she a Sagittarius? We always lose track of things, and often seriously misplace things though I rarely actually lose them any more. I lost 4 pairs of glasses as a teenager, but when I had to start buying my own I stopped losing them. I would let her suffer the consequences a bit but not too much, she's only 7. Perhaps if she has a sort of checklist of the things she should have when she leaves school for the day?

  3. well whoop there azz  if they lose there thing again and tell them " im not going to buy ur S**t again if u keep losing ur stuff"

  4. At 7 years old she needs to have some discipline put on her.  My son use to be forgetful also till he started losing privledges.  He would come home without the right book to do homework so there would be no T.V that night for him.  If it was something really really important then it might be no t.v. for 3 to 7 days.  Let the punishment fit the crime.  If it was a pack of crayons then let it be one day.  If it was the earrings let it be between the 3 to 7 day mark..  According to how expensive they were.   If she wants more then she will have to earn them.   As far as replacing them every time she loses them.  Let her go to school for a couple of days without them.  Let the kids tease her or let her get into trouble for not having them and this will remind her that she shouldn't have let someone else borrow them b/c now she has to do without.

  5. There need to  be consequences for her actions. Don't replace the things she doesn't absolutely need, for example. Every time she loses something, have her do chores around the house to "work" for the value of the thing she's misplaced. This should show her that her things have value and should be respected.

  6. A spanking will help her remember to take better care

    of her things.

  7. tell her teacher to manage the stuff like the teacher gets the kids stuff and the kid ask for the thing she wants..or if you want dicipline her

  8. I understand it's frustrating, I struggle constantly trying to keep up with my things. I would suggest punishment as a last resort.  Try making a list of the things that she needs to have throughout the school day and for homework have her check off the items as she puts them away in her backpack or at school. I understand this can be a lot to ask for  a seven year old so get the teacher involved. She just needs time to pack her things properly and think about where she puts them. As for the sharing part, explain to her that you're happy that she's willing to share with her classmates, but she needs to make sure she takes the time to get them back.

  9. your kid has to have an id?

    cool!

  10. Are you sure she's not being bullied and a classmate is stealing the stuff? Investigate that option, and if that's not it, have the teacher keep an eye on her stuff.

  11. Don't replace her things as much.

Also, if possible pick her up from her classroom and check if everything is there.

Or go down to the classroom and make her find everything that is missing.

If she starts loosing out on special opportunities such as movies, compute time, desert then she will probably start being a little more responsible.

The teacher might be able to help with this too.

She probably just needs a little reminding.
