  1. If you could find some paper with silver holographic or sparkly texture, you could cut out "disco" balls and print the invitations on the back, and put some silver glitter into the envelopes.  But, the 70's are divided into 2 very distinct themes:  Early 70's (late 60's) is the psychedlic/hippie era and mid-late 70's is the disco era ... which era is your theme?  Invitations for the "hippie" era, could be big bright child-like flowers, with a small round photo of your parents in the center, and put some dried oregano in the envelopes:)

  2. These 4 sites should help you with your party.

    http://www.party411.com/index.html

    http://www.shindigz.com

You should also look in Party City for their " Scene Setter" 70's themed decorations. You should also do a web search for 70's themed menus for your party.

  3. Tye die, bell bottoms, hip huggers, Afros, long hair, psychedelic.  You can have so much fun with this theme.  Watch that 70's show and get some ideas as far as what they wore and how their houses were decorated.

  4. make sure theres a lot of pot and please no disco ---just rock AND soul music

  5. Think 'groovy'. Brightly patterned yellow/brown wallpaper designs, platform shoes, tie-die, big flares, flower power, hippies, yin-yans, afros.

Type 70's into google and do an image search for some inspiration. Good luck!
