  1. A good place to get ideas for a 70s party is your local party store - you don't have to buy, but go there and look to see what they have available. Also www.orientaltrading.com has lots of ideas for goodie bags - do a search on 70s or disco.

You could also do a google search on 70s costumes for pictures, then see what you might be able to put together from your own wardrobe, or by supplementing something from a thrift store. If you have a minidress you can wear it with white boots and do your hair 70s style with a headband - that may be enough. You could dress hippie-style too.

At the party, play lots of disco music and maybe run a good 70s movie (or spoof) on the tv. The Brady Bunch Movie and Starsky and Hutch are good spoofs but you can find authentic 70s movies too like Herbie the Love Bug or the original Freaky Friday.

For food, I'd recommend doing a fondue which was really popular at the time, but I would serve other stuff along with it like pizza so guests could fill up.

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. There are 2 very different eras in the 70's, so you need to decide which one.  The early 70's were Hippie & psychedelic.... the late 70's were Disco - totally different from each other!  Get some help &suggestions from your mom (aunt or uncle), since I assume an adult is helping you with the cost.....

  3. Bell bottom pants, bright colors, vests, button down shirst, big belts, etc.  You can wear oranges and greens, any funky colors with bell bottom pants and a button down shirt, a head band to match the shirt or to contrast it, etc and a big belt to go around your waist.

Watch the Brady Bunch for some great ideas on what fashions were like.

For goodie bags, you can go online and check out some candy that was popular in the 70s and put that in a goodie bag and give that to the guests.  I'm sure seeing candy that they once used to eat will bring back some fun memories!  You can put in the search engine, 1970s candy and you'll get tons of websites, but you may have to order some online.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your dad has a great party. You're very sweet to do the party for him!
