  1. unbolt it

  2. Why not first try to remove the drain plug on the bottom of the carb and spray with "either-Sure Start Fluid".  This might clean out anything that is holding the float up.  Next tap on the side of the bowl and see if you can free the float.  Last resort, get a piece of thin wire, insert up the drain hole and see if float moves.  Blow om the fuel inlet hose to the carb and see if gas enters the bowl or not.  Or pull the carb off the motor.  Contact "iboats.com" and join their Free Outboard Motor Forum for expert advice and pictures of how to remove the carb. or purchase the service manual for step by step instructions.

  3. Remove the nuts that hold it onto the engine.

  4. Here's the deal- anytime you need to ask (myself included) on how to remove a part from a motor, you need a service manual. They are a tremendous aid in working on something that you have very little knowledge of- Getting it off is easy, getting it cleaned out and the jets unstopped is a little harder. New carburetor kits should be installed at this time.

To remove them, there will be more then one carburetor, and they will have linkage adjustments attached to each carb.-these will have to be removed- be careful that the adjustments are not changed during the process- then there is two bolts on each carb. that you take off- that's all there is too taking them off- there are usually two problems that occur in the carbs.- the float may be sticking, or the jets are stopped up- the carbs need to be cleaned and the jets unstopped- there are carb cleaners available at parts houses to help you clean them out- good luck!

  5. To ensure that you correctly handle all dissassembly and assembly of the carb, buy the service manual for the model and year of your outboard.

Service manuals go into detail on diagnosing starting problems and fuel delivery problems.  Which will help troubleshoot what really needs to be cleaned, adjusted, or replaced.
