  1. Most road bikes have 700c rims...And most mountain bikes have 26"....700c wheels are SMALLER ! I mean they are more thin...

  2. 700c rims are basically 29" rims.   Bigger means easier rolling over obstacles.   Smaller means more control in tight situations and such.   I like the 26" wheels for off.road, and 700 for pavement.

  3. 700c rims are fatter than a 26in. rim and usually 26in. rims are superioir

  4. The bead seat diameter (diameter of the rim) is 622mm for a 700C rim, and 559 for a 26" rim. With a difference in diameter of 63 mm, they are not interchangeable. Both sizes come in various widths; skinny for road tires and fatter for off-road.

As to which is better, match the wheel to the intended use. 700C has a larger diameter and will roll smoother, but will be less tolerant of abuse than a smaller 26" wheel.
