A little more detail, I graduated @23 with a Bachelors in Business Admin. I've been working for the gov't (human resources) for 3 years after that. I currently make about $70k. Would I make more in similar field with only 3 years experience. The perks for the govt jobs are good benefits (health, retirement) and I only work 4 days a week.

I want and probably am in the very near future going to grad school for my MBA. I will consider quitting during or after i get the degree to work private again.

  1. At 27, making 70,000 a year is very good.

Even if you graduate from Ivy League, its hard to get such a great salary at such a young age. You are very lucky. Working for the government gets you great deals.

  2. that is pretty good.

My advice though, is not to stop working to get an MBA unless you know it will get you a step up.  MBA degree si flooded and it is better to have a job than a student loan payment and no job.

  3. 70 is a very good salary, well it also depends in what area of the country you live, if you live in a huge city, 70 might not be great, but if you live in a small or decent sized city, 70 is pretty d**n good.

  4. If you have a job, you'd better keep it.  With all the cutbacks, you may not be able to get a better one.  Also, you can go to night school to get your MBA and it might even help you get a promotion.  $70K is a decent salary by any standard.   We know a lot of college graduates with MBAs that can't get more than $15 per hour.  The economy is in very bad shape.
