  1. sounds like your clutch is slipping bad

fix is get a new clutch and have slave cylinder checked to make sure its working right

  2. idk if it is normal, it is your car and you only know how it is... my honda civic ex runs at 3 grand just about at 70mph in 5th gear... did you hit the gas too hard while coming off the clutch?  was this the first time you noticed it?  maybe that is normal and you never paid attention... as far as the reverse problem, you weren't moving and trying to go into reverse, right?  ummm... sometimes my car doesn't go into reverse all the time... you have to get it in there just right or it will start grinding... when you were trying to get in 4th, Im assuming you were driving and shifting up... maybe you didn't have the clutch engaged enough... ummm... idk... my dad is a mechanic... if i remember ill ask him for you
