70th Birthday? Themes, Ideas anyone?

Question

Planning a party for hubby at a high-end steakhouse for about 30 people. Any theme ideas I can use for invitations and decorations in the restaurant? He loves gadgets, outer space, is a computer geek as well as a truly wonderful human being. Please help--I can only think of trite overdone stuff.

How about (this is really off the wall) a Welcome To Area 51 party. You know that place where the government supposedly hid aliens? You could use that yellow "do not cross" safety tape and have aliens at the place settings, blinking lights and glow sticks? All of this stuff is totally available at any party store. Best wishes :)

THAT'S SO WONDERFUL THAT HE IS MAKING SEVENTY!!! SO WHY DON'T YOU TREAT HIM LIKE A KING!!!! FIX UP A ROYAL THROWN "CHAIR", DECORATE WINE GLASSES, (GOLD, WHITE AND BLACK) COULD BE YOUR COLORS.

ASK THE LADIES TO WEAR GOWNS AND SUITS FOR THE MEN. DO IT REAL SPECIAL. MAKE HIM DRESS NICELY IN A SUIT, MAKE HIM A BANNER WITH GOLD LETTERING (THE KING).

FOR INTERMISSION ASK FRIENDS IN ADVANCE TO TAKE THE MIKE AND TELL HIM WHY THEY THINK HE IS A KING AND DON'T FORGET TO MAKE UP A LOVELY SPEACH  FOR YOURSELF. LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU LOVE HIM AND YOU ARE THE ROYAL COUPLE!!!!!

P.S. DON'T FORGET THE TOAST!!!!!

Born in 1938.  Graduated high school? (1957-58).  Invitations,music, and decorations for this era.  Suggest that people dress fifties.
