  1. The main cause of the 787's delay is worker contract issues, but also because the aircraft needed more adjustments. For example, there was a problem with the 787's inflight internet system. Passengers who accesed the wireless system on their laptop could hack into the aircrafts information and control systems, and in theory, could control the planes main systems from their laptop. This became a security threat and the FAA denied the 787 its operating certifiacte until boeing rectified the problem. Boeing now says it has fixed it, but this now means the aircraft needs extra testing to see if this problem still exists, in turn, delaying the types entry into operation.

These delays can be expected for any new aircraft, but the good thing is that you know how strict the regulations manufacturers need to go through to put a new type into service- everything from the flight control systems to the taps in the galley all have to be working at 100%.

It is scheduled to be delivered to the first customer (ANA) in late 2009, just a little over a year late. Even this may change, but so far the 787 hasnt had nearly the same amount of delays the A380 did.

  2. acctually its true boeing  still not realeases 787 i just also dont know what happen busy or what.... just its delay but if you cannot wait, good thing there was airbus a350xwb but 787 is bigger than it

  3. The airlines have not been keeping up with routine inspections, and yes they will effect deliveries.

It was the workers that blew the whistle on this issue, due to cost cuts alot of maintenance checks were not being preformed

  4. Basically the Sub contractors are not meeting the contracts. Many parts are arriving at Boeing that are not properly made for assembly. This happens anytime you build a new Aircraft. The fact that the aircraft is all Composite is making the problem worse. For Example, a company I know of has built 10 parts for the 787 only 2 of them have been acceptable.

  5. This the 4th delay announced by Boeing on April 9, 2008, the Boeing Co. delayed its 787 jetliner program again on April 9,2008, pushing back its expected debut in commercial service to the third quarter of 2009 as it continues to grapple with problems involving its supply chain and the need to redo some outside work.
