What type and grain of bullet should I use to Antelope hunt? I have a 2006 Browning A Bolt with the Boss system. I will be taking shots at 200 to 300 yards I expect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. According to the Winchester Product Guide for 2008 it is the 160 grain XP3 bullet.* SXP7RM..*

  2. Might i suggest that you download a ballistics software like the one I listed below.  This will aid in sighting in your gun, and might affect the load you want.

  3. nothing ballistic because you dont want to blow it up and something light but slow with a low BC and SD because you dont want elk stopping performance in an antelope gun because you wont have an antelope any more i suggest

http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.ex... because they will be perfect for 250 yard shots since they wont be too fast and they will penetrate nicely and slowly begin to expand and then make a full almost perfect mushroom and not penetrate to the other side but i really would suggest a smaller caliber since i would rather have one instant non explosive kill than 2 kills one antelope exploded when i shot it then the bullet continued on and wounded the next one and it died of blood loss 6 hours later

  4. 139 or 140 grainers should fit the bill. Prarie goats aren't particularly large or tough critters, so you don't need the expense of a premium bullet, and controlled expansion isn't really needed. You have plenty of room for experimentation to see what your rifle likes best.

Now, if you're talking one of the antelope species of Africa, I take it all back, and we'll have to talk about the specific species.

  5. 7mm will take the smallest or largest Antelope in the world.  For the small stuff, the Remington 140 grain Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded will perform as well as more expensive ammo and the 175 grain Pointed Soft Point Core-Lokt will out perform a 180 grain .30-06 round on the big stuff.   Either load will take animals cleanly at 300+ yards.

  6. I load mine with Sierra 140 grain Game King Spitzer boat tail bullets.

  7. i used to shoot winchester ammo and was unpleased with my accuracy. i changed to federal premium.i also have a browning 7mag but mine is the lever action.i found a 140gr nosler accubond bullet. it has a polymer tip but does not blow up the animal. i shoot texas deer and it does not cause huge holes.very accurate at longer ranges and has great knock down power.much more accurate that winchester ammo.
