  1. I teach elementary, so I'm not positive what the STAR test is.  However, any standardized tests given are simply used as an assessment tool for teachers to see where your strengths and weaknesses are.  FCAT is the only true exam that will affect your future education.

  2. In my district, the STAR  math test is used to determine which math class you will be in: regular, remedial, or advanced.

The STAR reading test is often used the same way to determine English placement.

If you are seriously concerned, tell your teacher that you freaked out and you think that it affected your score. You can always ask if it is possible to take it over. The worst that can happen is that she'll say, "No."

  3. No, not really. It just helps the school figure out what level you're on academically. It tests how much you know, but it isn't nearly as important as the SAT or standardized tests (the big, state-wide tests you get every year). Also, Star tests change the difficulty of the questions depending on whether you get them right or not. If you got some questions wrong, they may have just been harder questions given to you to see how well you'd do on them.

  4. In the grand scheme of things, no your future probably will not be affected.  Your immediate future though is affected.  I don't know what impact this test has on your grade placement, but prepare as much as you can for future tests.

  5. NO!! Those dumb star test are just so they can see what level you're at and how good they're doing at teaching you. No worries!
