My new puppy has a few fleas, i treated him with the Spot on stuff, but he is still scratching, and i cant use this treatment again yet. I treated bedding etc. Iv looked everywhere for a flea shampoo for puppys UNDER 12 weeks, but can not find ANY!! Is it possible to still use this shampoo?? Or may this be dangerous???

  1. go to the vet:the flea treatments at the pet store are c**p!

my dog had a bad reaction to it:he is an adult dog.

Ask your vet if Capstar safe for the puppy?still very young, but the vet can sure give you something that's safe.

treat your home :the fleas going to hop onto the dog as soon as you cleaned him!

  2. Use Dawn dish washing soap on his body not head... use a flea comb brush out the fleas the dawn is ur using cause its gentle and the odor is what the fleas don't like. Also try using some home remedies like boil water put it in a spray bottle cut a lemon and put a slice of lemon with skin in the hot water let it sit for the night and then use it the next day. If not look on the internet for some all natural remedies.

  3. try using a flea comb to comb them out of the coat

  4. Take her to the vet and ask them for the right medication for an 8-weeks old puppy. If you can, try to use a fleas comb and see if you can get some of them off of her. Hope this helps.

  5. Do not apply OTC flea medication of any kind to an 8 wk. old puppy, if badly infested see your vet for proper treatment. Store bought products can be very dangerous to a pup at any age especially Hartz products. It can cause an allergic reaction that is as bad as the fleas. See your vet.

  6. At that age it's a bit dangerous for an 8 wks old puppy. If she's really infested with it, you should go to the vet about it. But if not that bad wait until she's 12 weeks. Puppies are still critical at this stage on anything you give them specially with chemicals is concern. It can result to death. Go to the Vet.

Fleas hates water and if you wash her the fleas will jump to her head. At this age Vet really knows best.

  7. Do you have a Walmarts they have a gold bottle of puppy shampoo I use on my Shih Tzu. You need to brush and pick the fleas onec a day and treet your house and yard. Do not use flea collars. They can kill puppies.

  8. You can go to the vet and get this stuff (looks and feels oily) that they put on her back. They tend to put it on 8 week old pups (at least my vet did anyway). I think that it's ok to use shampoo (try using regular shampoo with just a little bit of the flee shampoo) as long as you ARE SURE to wash all of it out during her bath. If you don't scrub it all off her skin will become irritated and dry. Make sure you do this during the day and avoid getting any of it in her eyes and ears. After you give her a bath put a flee colar on her (make sure it's ok by calling a vet).
