  1. As the air is thinner, the cooking times would be different (longer I believe).

So, if you live in Denver you wont undercook your chicken pot pie.

  2. There are a couple of reasons. The air is thinner so things boil faster. Also, baked goods will rise more (and faster) so you have to add flour to baked goods or they will rise right over the sides of the pan. Because of that, things tend to be a little fluffier and lighter...if you cook it right.

    Good luck

  3. The higher it gets there is more pressure.  The higher the pressure the easier it is for water and foods to cook/boil.

  4. Because some people live at relatively high altitudes. Denver is one mile above sea level, and some other mountain communities can be higher.  Lower air pressure calls for a different amount of cooking time.

    .

  5. The air pressure at high altitudes is lower.  This causes the boiling point to be lower, so foods will cook slower.  Water boils when its pressure exceeds the pressure of the air column above it, and that involves some equations I haven't seen since high school.  That's why you have to add time for the high altitude instructions.

Summary:  Water boils at a lower temperature at higher altitude, so food cooks slower.

  6. If you go high in the sky the air is thinner so they don't need cooking as long. for example, If you take a packet of crisps above the clouds the packet would explode
