Hello All,

I have a situation here with an 8 year-old son, whose father & girlfriend abused him when he was younger. Despite trips to the doctors office, calls to CPS, filing charges with the police department, there has been no reprimand for this heinous crime. But more importantly, this once sweet, loving child has turned into a child with violent attacks on himself and family memebers. I do not know what to do - the family court refuses to protect him and I cannot get any help otherwise. He's currently in therapy, but that seems to be a slow process due to his delay. Compounding the problem is that the family court system has ordered for the father to have supervised visitation with the child, which causes the violence to increase against him and us. He has nightmares throughout the week, he is extremely fearful of the dark (he was not before) and being alone in rooms, he grabs pointed objects and tries to stick himself; he hits me, his grandmother, sister, and uncles with whatever is available - a shoe, his fist, a heavy book, toys, etc - you name it & we've probably been hit with it. My question is does anyone know of a type of specialist, such as a doctor that I should take him to for testing/information? His articulation is about the level of a 4/5 year-old. But I'm thinking that if we can get some help with his developmental delay, perhaps this will make his therapy be more effective, and he can articulate how he really feels and not be a violent individual.

  1. what about children's psychologist they may help

or a counsellor maybe like at a school

or  maybe a paediatrician other tha that i don't know

maybe look it up on google.com or the net.

  2. Look into PCIT (Parent Child Interactive Therapy) through your local Children's Hospital or a LCSW specializing in Play Therapy. They will have guidelines you can establish with your son as to his behavior, despite his developmental delay.

    God Bless You All
