No one has yet mentioned billiards(2 cue balls [one with a spot] and a red ball).

An excellent game to hone your snooker skills..although not a spectaror sport.

  1. As an ex-snooker player, I'd say (as I am bound to) that snooker is the hardest game and has the highest skill levels. But as a pub game I prefer 8-ball on English tables, I dont think much of 9-ball pool, pockets are huge and its a far simpler game devoid of many tactics.

  2. You are right with your Additional Details. Pool is played of course on a smaller table than Snooker or billiards.

If you want to improve your snooker skills than start playing billiards. With only 3 balls you will develop the skills of side (English to the yanks), angles, speed and cuing.

I don't agree that billiards is not entertaining to watch. It's a pity we cannot watch two good billiards players, snooker is more TV orientated, but billiards requires a great deal more skill, with the swinging loosing hazards and the long and short jennies, and the cannons when two balls are at opposite ends of the table. I've seen a good player making over a 300 break, you have to be good to achieve that.

  3. How about bar billiards, which you rarely see these days? Steering the ball into the numbered pockets without knocking the mushrooms over is no mean feat.

  4. I've played league 8 ball Pool and enjoy it. I also enjoy the occasional game of Snooker.

  5. Snooker is the best all round cue game since it combines the refinement of billiards with the cut and thrust of the various pool games. Pool is best suited for pubs and clubs when someone is looking for a quick knockaround game - Snooker is far richer and requires much more skill, strategy and tactics.

  6. eight ball and nine ball..do you know how to play those? eigt bal is what you play when you are a beginner, but right now even if people are beginners, they play nine balls because they watch it often than eight balls for that, people more understand the rules of nine balls. I said eight balls for beginners because the rules in eight balls is much easier and when you play, there are more options to choose a shot, because there are many balls and choices in the table, Rules go like this:

solid: if you first shoot numbers 1-7accidentally/not then you'll stripes: vice versa

it's called the eight ball because it the last ball that should be on the table or the ball thatyou will shoot is the number eight.

same as the nine ball when you accidentally move another ball or if you accidentally hit your opponent's balls

  7. Snooker because its more technical, harder. 9 ball pool is so easy its unreal, you can hit the sides and the ball still goes in.

  8. 8 ball is best. It's the funnest.

You have to be really good at 9 ball to have a good game, and snooker is boring bc you're always playing on the defense and keeping track of score...etc, and billiards is also boring, same reasons as snooker.

  9. Pocket pool is the best. . . Har Har Har!

  10. Snooker is definately the best game, it is the hardest to master and takes much more skill and concentration than the others....... I've never played 9 ball and I hate 8 ball (pool) on American/ European tables because it is like playing with cannon balls into buckets. English pool is the best pub game when your out with mates.
