8 ball rules question?

If you call a shot on your last ball that involves the 8 ball going in as well and the 8 ball falls before your last ball does is that legal and do you win?

Ex. 3 ball in the corner, cue off the 3, 8 in the side. And the 8 goes in first. But both balls fall.

  1. Everyone correct so far.....you have to shoot the 8 ball last...you could actually hit one of your opponents balls to fall into the called pocket...ie:..you call the side pocket with a kiss of the opponents balls....in 8 ball you just call the pocket...if you "wack" the heck out of it like a "C" player....it rolls for 3 days and comes around to fall into the "called" pocket you win.....actually happened to a teamate....she hit it way to hard it rolled around and the opponent was actually at the table when the ball came back too the pocket and went it....talk about a stink!!....but she won!!

  2. susan is correct.  The 8 ball must be a separate shot, and any time the 8 ball goes in before all your suited balls is a loss, except on the break in which in most cases its a rerack or spot (breakers choice).

  3. You do not win.....you lose....the 8 has to be a separate shot.

I have given you a site that you can download a rule book

  4. It's a loss of game no matter which ball goes in first. The 8 ball must be called and made on it's own shot after you have pocketed all of your suits object balls. I've played in lots of different places under lots of different rules over the last 40 years or so but that rule is always the same.Anything else would just be stupid.

  5. Too many people try to make 8 ball complicated.............strike the designated stripe or solid first ........sink a ball of that type continue shooting until you pocket all balls of that type.............call your pocket for the 8 ball...........you must always strike correct ball to make it a legal shot eg. if shooting stripes you must strike a stripe first

  6. no u do not win... unless have prior agreement (house rules) the 8 is an independent shot (cant be combo like was called in example) in any shot if anything other then ur intended object ball goes down frist its slop and a ur turn is over/ foul. so even if allowing 8 to be a combo still lose cause object ball didnt go down first.

  7. All of above answers are correct. You must pocket the 8 ball on a separate shot into a designated pocket. You can check the resource below for in depth billiards rules.

  8. Sorry you lose...your ball has to drop first or its the same as making the 8 ball early without calling it.
