8 days late and a positive/negative test?

My husband and I have been TTC for 3 months now. I have been spotting VERY lightly the last 4 or 5 days, only showing up at all when I wipe (I have consistently had pretty heavy periods since I started having them at age 11, now 23) I am 8 days late for my period and took a HPT this morning at about 6:00am while I was a little sleepy. I thought the test said negative, went back to bed and when I woke up at 8:30 I looked again and it was positive, very faint. The test was an Equate brand and I had heard they don't have evap. lines. I know you aren't supposed to read them after 10 minutes but has anyone else had this experience or something similar and been pregnant?

  1. I would just get another test and take it tomorrow.

  2. I feel like a magic 8 ball.

Reply hazy, test again tomorrow morning.

  3. well its recommended that you read it

with in 10 mins but sometimes you can read it

up to 48 hrs. that happened to me i read mine bout an hour later n

it came out negative then i went to the doctor it turns out that i was

so i recommend either take anohter one or go to  the doctor

  4. I would always disregard a test after the time stated on the box but I can sympathise with your situation. I would take another one with your first morning urine! If you had a positive today, you will most likely have one tomorrow. You might have an even stronger reading if you wait 48-72 hours before re-testing, but I know in the world of TTC this is just too hard sometimes! :] Good luck!!

  5. I am sorry, I know you don't want to hear this but the same thing happened to me last week. It was not equate brand though. I took 2 test walked away and come back a couple of hrs. later and they were both faint positives. I am NOT pregnant this go around. I just started my period a few day ago. But I will try very hard again! LOL! Don't get your hopes up too much. Best wishes!

  6. Try taking another test or go & get a blood test done.

On my pregnancy test it showed postive after 5-10 minutes & indeed I am.

  7. your right they aren't good after 10 minutes, i have done the same thing, took the test, and got neg, went back later, it was positive. I wasn't pregnant then. I would take one more, and what ever that one says is correct.

  8. Hi!  I had that experience.  Didn't see a line within the first few minutes, but when I looked about an hour later, it was positive, and I did end up being pregnant.  So, you never know!  (The spotting could be a good sign, too: implantation.)  I've spotted with both of my pregnancies, and it was only visible on the TP.  So, I have my fingers crossed for you!  Good luck.  :)
