Question:

8 month old baby hates cot?

She was a wonderful sleeper when she was in her Amby natures nest (a bit like a hammock) but she is too big for it now.

We put her in her cot and she goes bananas.

So we now let her sleep in her chair in the cot and she sleeps all night.

I'm sure she hates the flat hard surface. Does anyone know of a soft matress that is safe for babies?? It seems to be my last option...unless anyone has any other idea....please :-o

  1. I will hazard a guess and say that when she cries you go to her and pick her up or comfort her - if that is the case - she has the beating of you and you are under her control - If I scream, mummy comes running.

Put her to bed and comfort her until she falls asleep - do this every night but gradually over time move further away from her - but still letting her know you are there.

She'll adjust and soon enough will sleep in it - if you keep backing down you will create an ongoing problem for yourself in the future

  2. She may just need to be swaddled e.g. to be wrapped so that she feels cosy and safe, the cot probably just feels to big after the nest.

  3. I had a sleep curve - possibly that might help?

  4. My baby hated the cot also from day one, she'd lift her legs up and roll on her side! my health visitor told me to fold up a few towls and put them under the cot sheet, she was fine after that and at 4 months still has a towl under her sheet. x

  5. put one of those soft blankets underneat her, she is prob so use to the amby natures nest, she will get use to the cot dont give up.

  6. Get a small bed for her with a safety side panel on the side.

    The matresses are softer

  7.    Have you ever went to a mtel and toss and turn all night and not sleep very good, but the next night you sleep like a baby. Well your baby is the smae way, its a new invoroment for her. It takes time to get use to, let her play in it and spend time in this new inviroment. She will soon come to know what its for and what to do when placed in it. Thats the way she learns.
