Question:

8 month old with a cold

My 8month old started day care on Tuesday, that night he had a high fever which he didn't get again but he has a very rough cough, blocked/runny nose and is vomiting his milk during feedings. For the past two days, i have been giving him his regular Gerber foods, with juice/water but no milk. I am concerned though that he is not getting enough food in his system. What can I do to help with his cold, make him better. This is my first child and I get nervous a lot when he gets sick.

  1. For his nose: make sure you are using a humidifier at night and during naps, squirt/drip saline into his nose to loosen up the crusty stuff several times a day, and use a bulb to suck the boogies out of his nose after the saline has been put in. Your baby needs his milk/formula instead of juice. If he was hungry, he would let you know. Call your doctor. Good luck!
