My little man is a great sleeper at night...sleeps for 10 hrs.(from 9pm til 7am). He takes naps durin the day not any particular times tho. He only sleeps for half an hour to an hour at any naps but just seems to rubbing his eyes and whinging alot of the time. I dont think he is lacking iron cos he takes 4 7 oz bottle of Aptimel Follow on milk for 6 mths which is rich in Iron.He is eating enough for his age food wise so i no its not hunger as i have tried to c if thats the problem. He drinks alot of water with a hint of juice durin the day so i no he is well hydrated. Would it b boredom?? Does teething cause them to b tired alot?? Or have i got a baby that just needs alot of sleep??

  1. Teething causes them to be tired alot, very wingy and makes their wee sting them so change him more than normal, and he should stop wingying and stay awake longer

  2. he sounds healthy he could be teething or just bored but maybe hes growing you know that can make him tired too he could have allergies or an ear infection if the lays down with a bottle

  3. *puts on glasses* lol

teething can make a kid tired and whingy, and some kids need more sleep than others. You say he drinks alot, how much is alot? if its in excess for his age, Id suggest taking him to the docs and if your really concerned, ask for a full blood exam. :)

  4. Teething could be a cause of this, however you do say that he doesn't have structured naps.  I've found that unless I actually set nap times and put her in the cot, my daughter will stay awake until she falls asleep from exhaustion.  This isn't a good sleep, and at 8 months they still need regular naps.  Try giving him a set routine, say 9.30 in the morning for half an hour, then 12.30 for an hour and a half, this works brilliantly for me.  Adjust this depending on your little boy.  He may not need the morning nap, or a longer afternoon nap.  If he's not sleepy put him down anyway, you need a routine.  If he wants to sleep longer, don't let him and don't allow naps after 4pm as this can affect their evening sleep.  With the above schedule, my girl sleeps 7pm-7am!  So nice to have my evenings back, and she's well rested and cheerful even though teething.

      Good luck!
