Since the summer started it's been really difficult to stick to the 9pm bed time...my son attends camp a few days a week so I'm really trying to keep him on some kind of schedule....am I being too harsh???

  1. Unless his behavior warrants it I would let it be a bit later in the summer. I usually start a strict routine with my kids 2 weeks before school starts, but I understand how easily it gets out of hand. Last week my 7 and 9 yr old were up until after 11:00 three nights, it was too much and we have decided between 9 and 10 tops. But I stay at home with them so they are also sleeping until 8:30 or 9:00 vs 7:00 on school days. Just use the 9:00 bedtime on  the days he goes to camp other days let it be 10:00.

  2. yes.. it's summer time for gosh sakes.

  3. If he has to wake up for camp some days, you're doing him a favor if they go to bed at a consistent time.  Otherwise he's likely to have more trouble falling asleep (and waking up, and being alert during the day) on time when they really need to.

  4. no, if you want to go lax a little as it is summer that's okay to as long is there is still order. If he has camp then sticking to the schedule is probably good as mentioned before. There always should be some consistency with children so your doing a good thing by making sure he has some.
