My son had a pretty bad bike accident on Monday. Thankfully he was wearing his helmet and it is only skin and teeth we are worried about. One of his permanent teeth were knocked out but reimplanted. The implant most likely will not work though becuase the tooth was out of his mouth for hours. It is not the very front tooth but the one right next to his two front teeth. Has this happened to anyone any suggestions on what to do?? Should we leave it and let the other teeth fill in the space or should we get him a bridge?? I tried talking to our dentist about it but he doesn't say much. I am looking for another dentist opinon but in the meantime thought I was ask for others experiences.

  1.  That have happen to me, I'm 15 and lost my 4 front teeth.Just place it in milk... I'm still waiting for my dentist, they are on vacation :(

  2. My 8 year old son had a horrible bike accident 3 weeks ago. Same thing, he was wearing his helmet but had major mouth trauma, a fractured jaw and facial cuts above his lip. He spend 4 days in the hospital to keep hydrated on an iv. I've had him following up with an oral surgeon because he had lost his perm front tooth but they had put the tooth back in 4 hrs after the accident. The tooth had been placed in milk during that time out of the mouth. I didnt hold out much hope for the tooth taking because of the amount of time it had been out of his mouth..but so far, so good.I now have him seeing his ped dentist regularly along with an orthodonist. They have really made me feel hopeful about the whole ordeal. You need to find someone who is going to give you answers that you need. I wouldnt recommend leaving the space as there are so many things they can do for him. You don't want to run into problems later down the rd. Although my sister never had her tooth beside her big tooth come in and I never even noticed until she pointed it out to me as adults. You need to make some phone calls and  find a oral surgeon to help you. I'm sure once you find someone you feel comfortable with you'll feel so much better and know that there's so many options for you. I had a lot of sleepless nights with worry as I'm sure you had too. Good luck with everything.
