We thought it may be sweets but we have cut them out after 7pm and it still happens. Not every night but maybe a couple times a month. Any suggestions?

  1. I saw a show about this on discovery health's mystery diagnosis also. They found out it was a type of epilesy. If it is bothering her and you that much, take her to the doctor and have them do tests for epilepsy.

  2. As April dawn suggested, it may be acid reflux.  My oldest son suffers from this and has actually thrown up too on occasion.  A pediatrician would be able to test and give you a diagnosis and give her a full nights sleep.

  3. The same exact thing happened to a little girl on the show mystery diagnosis on the discovery health channel. Turns out, she had epilepsy. Keep an eye out.

  4. Possibly acid reflux.  You should take her to her doctor to get ot checked out.

  5. She reminds me of my son.  He threw up a couple hours after going to bed like that all throughout his childhood. Then he'd be fine--just like your daughter.  It happened with the same frequency.  He's a young teenager now, and--whew!--he finally outgrew it!  He was diagnosed not with epilepsy, but with neurofibromatosis a few years ago, and I attribute it to that.  I don't know if sharing my story will help you or not.  But hopefully your daughter will outgrow it, too.  I'm sure she's fine; all kids go through quirks growing up.

BTW, hope she at least makes it to the bathroom in time!  A lot of times my son would sleep right through it!!!  What a MESS!
