My son will have his 8th birthday at June 27 and I have absolutely no idea what I should do for his party.

Do any of you have an idea about party’s theme?

Do you know which the best birthday cake bakery-company in Washington dc is?

Do you know where the party could take place in Washington dc (we don’t like the party takes place at our home)?

  1. I bet he would love something like an arcade or lazer tag or even go-carts/mini-golf...

I would choose a theme that he likes.... So if hes into Power Rangers or Digimon... go with it.

  2. Super hereos is making it's way back, I suggest a comic book theme, where it's not just spider-man, or hulk, but all the marvel and Dc hereos, not from DC sorry, but good luck

  3. The party theme should be picked by him.  Let him pick his favorite show or movie.  Indiana Jones is popular now because of the movie.  But he's old enough to tell you.

Well I don't live in DC, but there are child entertainment centers all over.  You know ones with games, small rides, go carts or laser tagging, etc.

    Other ideas:

    Bowling party

Indoor swimming pool/small water park  (that would be a lot of fun!)

    Roller skating/ice skating

    Mc donalds with playplace

Cake: Again sorry I don't live in DC, but call local bakeries and stores to see if they offer the theme you pick.  All cake will taste good to kids, I wouldn't worry about that!  Some places even provide a cake for child's parties.  You can buy small toys to place on top to match the theme

Depending on how many kids you invite, ask other adult relatives to help watch the kids, 8 is still very young.

  4. I've never been to Washington DC  (always wanted to go though) but right now "SPEED RACERS" is the big rave for 8 year olds.  I know because my 8 year old boy wants everything Speed Racer.  It is a new show that just hit the air ways and there might be a movie coming out too.

Pizza places always work for birthday parties, the ones with arcade games.

As for the cake, definately Costco or Sams Club.

  5. Harry Potter!

I was at the best party ever for a kid-

they got to create potions with candy powder and jelly worms and flies, run around in hats and wands, there were ghosts and giants-

I talked to the mom and she told me the whole thing was so inexpensive and she did it herself.

  6. Go to your neighborhood park and hire The Great Zucchini to come.  I've seen this performer several times and the kids never stop laughing.  His website says for ages 4-6, but he'll do an act for older kids as well.   His shows are about 45 minutes and boys especially seem to like his sense of humor.

For cakes, Heidleburg's is awesome - but that's in Arlington.  Our kids have always been happy with Giant or Safeway cakes.
