She is doing a beautiful job keeping the earrings "twirled" and using the solution you get after piercing to keep her earlobes clean. BUT.... she is still so tender. Brushing her hair and putting on shirts, etc makes her wimper. I'm just aching for her! What can I do to help her while her ears heal? How long should I expect her to be in pain after having them pierced? I got mine done so long ago, I don't remember.

  1. I got my ears pierced when I was 2 1/2 I would call her doctor if the tenderness continues in a few days

  2. Remeber piecin g her ears cuased a hole in the skin.  Its going to be quite a while before the heal.  Maybe she twirrling the earrings a bit too much or playing with them.  Tell her to try not to do it too much, just a few times a day.

You can try a little neosporin with pain killer to help speed healing.

  3. Expect them to be tender for a couple weeks. Remember, they're an open wound and they won't be fully healed for 6 weeks or so. As long as she takes really good care of them (she sounds responsible for an 8 year old) they'll be fine. I remember I could barely sleep when I got mine, I'm a side sleeper so it was impossible. I also got them caught in the hair brush which is NOT a fun experience. Just be careful and they'll be fine in a couple weeks.

  4. it is normal for some tinderness, in about 3 weeks it wil be totally gone! best of luck, keep twirling sonds like she is doing good!

  5. It should not still be sore.  My 5 year old just got hers done for her kindergarten graduation.  She was only sore for the one night.  If they are still sore in a couple of days I would take her to her peditrician.

  6. Ideally, they shouldn't be sore.    I think that maybe she's twirling them too much, or she's pulling downward while doing it.      I think that if the earrings were twirled a couple of times during the day (morning/night) and the solution applied to the holes, they should be fine.      Instead of rubbing the solution on the hole, just saturate the cotton swab and squeeze it over the front and back of the hole and the solution will run onto the hole.

Your daughter just needs to leave them alone and let you doctor her ears.     If she's in that much pain, go ahead and give her a dose of motrin or tylenol.     If this does not help, take her to the pediatrician.

  7. keep them clean it should last for another week or so when you touch them have her hold her fav toy or stuffed animal for support.

  8. best thing is just to avoid the area as much as possible, be really careful when you brush her hair not to touch them and try to dress her in button up shirts etc if possible
