A little girl at my daughter's school was suspended for hugging her friend, who is also female, on the playground. Do you think that some schools are taking the zero tolerance for touching too far?

  1. I have a very strong suspicion that there is more to this story than just a girl giving another girl a hug.

  2. Yes I do! If it was a simple hug, then why make something out of nothing?

  3. wow thats nuts what is wrong with a hug

  4. Schools adopted zero tolerance to avoid lawsuits.  People would claim that different children were treated differently and sue.  The answer was we will treat everyone the same.  So now you have children being suspended for things that seen silly, but as long as we allow some of the ridiculous lawwuite to continue, schools have little choice.

  5. Ri-d**n-diculous!

Way too far...they're making our kids cold.

  6. It's ridiculous in my opinion. I remember a couple i knew in junior high. The girl had accidentally gotten a scrunchie tangled in her hair and her boyfriend was helping her to get it out without ripping out any more than he had to. Anyway a teacher spotted him and gave him a week of lunch detention. I can understand of they were making out, etc., but that? Come on!

  7. Yes- why is everything need to be black or white... please a hug.  Unless the girl being hugged was offended in some way.  This is just dumb!

  8. HAHA watta joke!

  9. Now that is going way to far!

    that is stupid...seriously!

  10. yes..it's sad that they discourage innocent emotion.  Many schools have a "no touch" policy.  They are sending a horrible message to our kids when "no touch" means hugging as well.

  11. I could see if it was something sexual but if it was hug between two little girls, what is the harm done?  They need to be more concerned about the trouble makers than that.

  12. yes,

i mean there was no pain what so ever.

    That makes me mad:P

  13. Wow that is just ridiculous. God forbid a kid try to do something nice. I think the zero tolerance policies are being taken WAY to far. I heard about a Kindergartner that was ARRESTED at school recently for throwing a tantrum. He didn't hurt anyone but he was crying and carrying on so they called the police, who cuffed him and put him in the back of a police car. Talk about traumatizing a kid who was already very upset. My 5 year old is due to start school next fall and I'm scared to send him.

  14. that's ridiculous. this simply shows how malicious and unreasonable people have become. everything has gone black and white.

  15. thats BS! Love and friendship are natural and part of forming a healthy child without hang ups

  16. yes, as she wasn't doing anything wrong

  17. Schools have gotten so out of touch from reality it's rediculous.  My son when he was in preschool was sent home for the same thing, except it was a girl.  Hello, they were four.  The school's where we are are military DODEA school's.  I was talking to a teacher a few weeks ago in the airport and he was saying that he had been sent home because he grabbed the back of a child's jacket and pulled him backwards.  At first my thought was duh, but the circumstances surrounding it were so aggravating.  He actually pulled another student off a student as he was beating the poor kid to a pulp.  The bully's mom complained that the teacher grabbed him.  After speaking to the principal the response was "absolutely no physical contact between a student and faculty member is okay".  The outcome for the poor student being beaten up could have been deadly had the teacher not stepped in.

  18. Over the top. The education department is falling apart !

  19. I think this situation is really extreme. That suspension will be on her school record until she graduates! This is crazy! In this instance, yes, this is taking it WAY to far!

  20. she did not need to be suspended for hugging someone.

  21. YES.

I think it's really getting ridiculous, and the schools are trying to raise a bunch of socially retarded sexual perverts.

I mean come ON now - what the heck?

  22. That's ridiculous. I would be marching my butt to the school and talking to someone
