80's puppet movie or series?

I am looking for a movie or series not sure which but it is about 2 kid puppets that are friends with this professor/scientist who built a time machine. they go traveling through time learning and solving puzzles. The times they visit that I can remember is an egyptian time period and robin hood. I have been searching for years and have yet to find it. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

  2. Just a guess, it's not puppets it's claymation "The Adventures of Mark Twain"  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088678/ . I love this movie!
