80's rock singer sounds like Robert Plant?

Question

There's a solo artist, plays guitar, and sounds almost identical to Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin. I need to know his name. I know he had about 4-5 good hits, and that he got shunned by the music industry becuase of some mannerisms similar to girls, or he dressed alot lika girl or something like that. They all did in the 80's though. Any ideas?

I can't remember any solo artists , but besides the already mentioned Whitesnake , Great White has been accused of ripping off Zep a little and Kingdom Come was really blasted for their Zep sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKJiVPt-K...

The only person I can think of from the 80's that sounded like Plant was David Coverdale when he was in Whitesnake.

i was gonna say scott weiland but he started in the 90's with stone temple pilots. he was in velvet revolver but quit.

I don't know about the s*x fascination, but they reminded me of Led Zep for some reason...
