  1. $56.76 per person for the month.

  2. 80 miles times 7 days is  560 miles per week,    divided by 15 mpg means 37.333  gallons a week used.    Figure 40 for traffic delays and idling while waiting on stragglers.    40 gallons times 3.09 gallon (oops,  that was last week)   will mean  $123.60 gas bill,  divided by 9 means $13.733333  each,  or 13.75.

But,   will the van also run 7 days a week?    If you mean 5 days a week,   the weekly mileage will drop to 400,   divided by 15 mpg,   means a weekly consumption of 26.666,   or 27 gallons.    TImes your cost  means a weekly fuel cost of 83.43,  or   $9.27 per person.

Who pays for the maintenance, cleaning  and tires for the van.   If the group also covers this,  I would suggest a weekly rate of $15,   with all extra placed into a maintenance account.     Making the records public ensures honesty,   all expenditures can come out of this account.   Receipts must be kept for everything.    Keeping the records on the front of a large manilla clasp envelope simplifies matters and gives a handy place to put receipts.   Still a bargain for all,  where else can you ride 80 miles a day for $3?     Agree on a cap for the escrow fund,  and when it is exceeded  rates can be adjusted,  and adjusted again when it is used.    Transmission replacement can cost about $2000,   engine problems can get into the same area.

  3. You'll use 5 & 1/3 gallons of fuel a day, which at $3.09 a gallon, will cost you $16.48 a day. So for 31 days, that's $510.48 total, or $56.76 each, divided 9 ways.

I hope where ever you are going, you don't have to do arithmetic.

  4. $1.59 each per day.

    Please BUCKLE UP.

    and Drive Safely.  :-)
