Ok, so I've been eating 800 - 1000 calories daily for about a month now.

I'm a man, 24 years old.

From what I've read i should be tired, exhausted, lethargic etc but I'm not, i feel like i have far more energy than i ever did before. Why is this?

What effects should i be seeing?

  1. The only reason that I can think of is that you were overweight (before starting the diet) and by reducing your calorie consumption, your body is feeding off the stored fat, which creates a sense that everything's a-ok, but really overtime you will start to see a decrease in weight to a point where you may be underweight. Or maybe you are eating more healthier foods instead, which is providing the energy.

  2. this is what makes the Atkin's diet work ...  once your body is heavily relying on stored body fat for energy, you release keytones ...

keytones suppress hunger and all of the other symptoms you would experience by eating too little ...

meanwhile your metabolism is responding to the lack of food and will slow to conserve energy and calories and keep you from feeling hungry ...  so if you keep this up for several months and then suddenly start eating 2000 calories a day, you will gain weight at a very steady rate ...

are you trying to lose weight?  are you stressed and don't feel like eating?  why would you just starve so you body eats it's muscle as well as fat instead of trying to build more muscle which burns a lot of calories at rest?  men don't have to worry about being too muscular or bulky ...  a HUGE weight loss advantage over women ...

  3. Are you eating any healthier?

If you're eating healthier than you did before, that might be why.

2000 calories of mainly junk/mostly junk, probably feels a lot worse than 1000 calories of healthy foods.

But you should honestly try getting at least 1200 calories, though.

  4. I am the same way I can eat like 500 calories a day and it not seem to bother me. But some days I can eat like 3000 and still be hungry.

    I work out modernity everyday.

  5. manorexic?

okay, you need a lot more calories than that. i eat about twice as much as you do man!

even if you are feeling like you have more energy, its bad for your over all health.

you should probley be getting anywhere form 1800-2500 calories a day from clean, healthy foods.

    good luck ;]

  6. if you dont feel tired its probably because physically you do nothing, up your calorie intake and excersise.
